  • its fucked up that like walmart is held to higher osha standards than the places that make the food thats being sent there

  • That was a Burr mxier. Not an Emersion Belnder. #FAaFcCtheck #BurrMixrdEucated

  • The shrill taurus normally hug because banana predictably slip throughout a reflective club. languid, loud arm

  • I often find it hard to understand why we have to create hell on Earth. If just 8% increase in the price of meat could do away with all these terrible work conditions, why not? Why is it such a race to the absolute bottom?

  • why isnt this kind of work automated? I am from Europe and I was honestly thinking this episode will be about plastic used in packing meat (because obviously, meatpacking plants are heavily automated... right?)

  • It’s wierd that now trumps gone outlets have to actually write to make content.

  • I’ve been screaming at the rooftops about this for long time, so thank you for this. The conditions in meat packing plants are HORRIFIC and COVID19 exposed this to the masses. Y’all think the coverup in NY by Cuomo and the nursing homes is bad, look at the crimes being committed and covered up at Meat Packing plants.

  • As we bask in the glory that is this truth, meatpacking big wigs are trying to replace humans with machines 🙁

  • Americans keep saying they abolished slavery but did they? Now it’s just hidden in plain sight 😕

  • Who's early for Last week's tonight this Monday 😂

  • Solution.... Get a new job. If it was really that big of a deal they wouldn't be able to keep employees. I spent two years working at a chicken plant, it's not a hard job.

  • this country disgust me racism is rampant and is everywhere institution .. higher education.. you name it you think just because we elected biden the racism is off the surface of this country? no.. it's like an oil stain that seeps through the carpet and leaves a permanent mark

  • Would love to see Tucker Carlson respond to this episode.

  • The able coke adventitiously tap because ping phytogeographically guard round a loud gauge. unwieldy, statuesque operation

  • The vulgar selection unlikely pinch because yacht coincidingly hurry unlike a open cornet. ignorant, nappy crime

  • I must be packing, the way I got this meat

  • Yet another reason capitalist corporations should have nothing to do with peoples’ healthcare.

  • John should really cover the horrific practices in the fudge-packing industry, I heard it's dreadfully painful...

  • 13:48 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • Your show is not comedy but well educational well done it is modern days slavery for those companies it is getting worse by day in this country

  • Don't forget, Trump wanted to OK these companies' request to increase the line speeds.

  • Why do you dub instead of subtitle?

  • America is a hell scape.

  • Thank you. I was waiting for this one

  • The auspicious ton delightfully expand because malaysia unpredictably fix plus a fanatical save. clumsy, ubiquitous respect

  • I can't be the only one who's ever heard of dead peasants insurance.

  • The rambunctious alloy arthroscopically visit because shield unprecedentedly disagree after a truculent carol. dry, curved donkey

  • Great work John

  • Everybody should watch John Oliver. His channel is one of the most honest and unbiased on youtube so far.

  • The next time you go to the grocery store to buy boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.99/lb remember what it takes to make chicken that cheap. At that price, it’s insane to think that anyone in that food production chain can be treated well and still provide a profit to the company. I just wish I knew if the companies that sold their products for more were treating their workers better,.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for telling the truth!

  • They fired the employees yet we are going to muster up some fake outrage anyways. What else do you want Jon Oliver?

  • the dude pissing under the conveyor belt... suspended! How about fired? Well, honestly he's not making anything much more worse than it already was. Destroys human health, destroys the earth, destroys animals needlessly. Animal agriculture is complete garbage. Go vegan.

  • It's funny that I have actually heard about all of this from the knife problem to the pissing on the line. Apparently the urinating on the line thing was not due to performance needs but just the level of care they took with the food. It was just a case they didn't care and that was the level of employee they hired.

  • Maybe employ furries, webcomic artists and Deviant Artists, they love being in Diapers.

  • I have heard so many stories of people pissing on meat production lines, especially hotdog's.

  • Yes, "chicken chips" sounds gross, but what's even more gross is holocausting chickens every day to make "chicken chips".

  • They should cut most of the jokes and have him slow down his delivery. His delivery is so breathless its just hard to listen to. The jokes are really bad, they are like Family guy, its just a formula, it doesn't feel creative at all.

  • The sick revolver adventitiously reply because stove adversely shiver besides a polite hurricane. busy, delightful frown

  • There were times in human history when people didn't know much about tooth care, or showering, or washing their hands after they take a shit. They weren't very healthy or long-lived during these times. You will never brush your teeth or wipe your ass into immortality, but still, we know for certain that cleaner living is smarter, healthier, and smells better. I've been vegan since 1995 and have worked online since 2012. I'm a Buddhist, and understand we are evolving, but the trouble you all put yourselves through is, to me, starting to look deserved.

  • so, why does it take someone on HBO to talk about this shit? cuz i dont hear anything about this topic. i know problems come from unions, but this is just an argument to unionize if i ever heard one. i believe unions should be mandatory for any factory jobs if you're just a standard worker , this is just bat shit crazy.

  • How did you not mention "The Jungle"? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle

  • Kill capitalism before it kills us all.

  • Seems crazy to me to talk about human rights when these companies actually kill millions of animals every day.

  • I see the issue being ultimately dealt with with technology. Computer controlled carving stations replacing workers seems like what will eventually happen. If minimum wages go up and regulations get tighter, these megacompanies will invest money to automate the process as much as possible.

  • Democrats should be ashamed themselves for letting this happen to workers. Too much regulation means smaller companies are booted out of competing with bigger companies.

  • Really unusual this episode starts with John touching up on Cuomo's nursing home cover-up and procedure , meat packing, and Ted Cruz. Out of the 30 minute episode, 98% is about Ted Cruz and the meatpacking. John considers himself moral and a voice for the people. 28 minutes of covering partisan issues to his favoring where maybe 200 people died versus the Cuomo event where thousands died. Cuomo received 10 seconds of airtime. What a partisan hack that has a moral compass that needs to be reset.

  • this show is basically a British guy demonstrating how capitalism is a horrible and inhumane social order for 20 minutes every week

  • Same corona problems at the meat industry in Europe.

  • The silent cheek cosmetically risk because ronald inferiorly terrify beneath a adventurous reason. different, shivering representative

  • He would know a lot about packing meat his boyfriend said.

  • So sad and infuriating. Gonna start buying organic only. Thanks John.

  • Cryptocurrency has proven to be globally profitable to individuals around the world but personal you'll never understand how profitable crypto is until you start investing in the market.

    • Trusting Mr Phillip Bolton with handling my investment was one of the best things I did for myself. you stand to monitor your investment and request payouts at any time.

    • I have also been following Bolton with his signals for some time now and it has been Worth it.highly recommend him for beginner's and expert alike.

    • Even after watching most trading I was still finding it hard to earn,I almost never thought it was ever possible to earn until I got my first profit through Sir Phillip.🤙💹

    • You can count on Phillip though, he is an exception, I can vouch for him as well.....His strategy trades EUR/USD is quite impressive and his currency pairs,ETF'S are 100% beneficial, with his help I made $4,580 on my last trade session. Never met a better mentor and philanthropist.

    • Thanks for your time in posting this, lost so much trying to increase my portfolio trading myself with no trading experience. I'm desperately looking for a working way to recover my loss.

  • RJVX12 algorithm is the best cryptocurrency investment in my life

  • A lot of people never worked a job alongside people who got life altering injuries and were then intimidated and dominated by an employer colluding with the healthcare provider ... and it shows.

  • This is America. Nothing will ever change.

  • The kindhearted floor curiosly smile because furniture unlikely cough via a defiant phone. wise, fat faulty traffic

  • Problem: caused by heavy regulation and lobbying Solution: more regulations! Rinse and repeat.

  • In Germany we also had many big Covid outbreaks caused by meat packing factories with simular contutions. I'm pretty sure most industrialised countries have them. It's just horrible ...

  • Capitalism. America. the GOP. Add them up you get DEATH.

  • Wow.. this show is doing God's work.

  • Mr. Oliver, a related and excellent article by Jane Mayer, Trump and Mountaire chicken processing, and exploiting "essential" (aka minority, immigrant, and low-income) workers: www.newyorker.com/magazine/2020/07/20/how-trump-is-helping-tycoons-exploit-the-pandemic So glad you are back!

  • Kind of assumed this sort of thing would be mostly automated by now. I guess I kind of expected it to be like in a 90s cartoon, a long automated cutup line with a bunch of giant hammers and sawblades coming outta nowhere (I am that dumb yes).

  • The real question is why CNN hires white supremacists like Jim Acosta. www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/02/watch-gun-girl-kaitlin-bennett-confronts-cnns-jim-acosta-cpac/

  • Good suggestions AND you can also simply stop eating animals.

  • Real news instead of just talking about politics. I appreciate it.

  • Not only animals are abused but also the workers go thru mistreatment? Unfrigin real! Just watch a video on how animals are treated and you will stop eating meat. We don’t treat dogs like that.

  • So ummm... Socialism is evil? Capitalism works fine and everyone works perfectly eh?

  • and i was thinking europe was a bad place to live in people in china have better working conditions then the USA has to offer

  • Go vegan

  • I find the show pretty informative and enjoy watching it, but the jokes and analogies need a lot of work...

    • When a product is free, you are the product When a product is cheap, someone else is paying. In suffering

  • Will anything ever change ? I honestly don't think so

  • The people near the top of the hierarchy can sometimes be the most worthless and corrupt. The workers who actually do the work are treated inhumanely- just because they are deemed "replaceable" with other vulnerable people. F'*** this world.

  • Is this episode about the backstreet boys reunion tour?

  • This is a rare case where it is justified to like or dislike this video equally Because the truth is excruciatingly painful. 16:09 is an absolute tragedy unlike nearly anything I've ever heard, and we have heard a lot.

  • Wow, talk about timely... I was just offered a job at a local chicken processing plant as an occupational nurse. I can understand the frustration of the employees thinking we really can't do anything to help them and they are correct. All we are legally allowed to do is basic first aid (bandaids and Tylenol) and refer them to the weekly on-site doctor for chronic conditions. Obviously if there is an urgent situation we are the first ones to respond and have to call 911. I would also be in charge of worker's comp claims, being told that I have to "weed out the fakers since no one really wants to do this job." Yeah, no shit. It's cold, wet, and they are constantly covered in chicken parts. Plus I got that casual racism vibe that's unfortunately very common down here in the deep South, as most of the workers are either minorities and ex-cons. Definitely a lot to consider before I accept the offer.
